QUIRINE VAN HOEK
A versatile artist, performs as a contemporary and baroque violinist and violist. Her playing is distinguished by style, energy and virtuosity, both in the role of concertmaster and chamber musician. In addition to her solo career – for example, she has performed as a soloist in violin concertos by Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Bruch, Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky – Quirine also enjoys exploring more distant corners of music, from historically informed performance to arranging and performing less known music. Van Hoek defended her Master’s degree in violin with honors in 2011 at the Conservatory in Utrecht, where she studied with Ilona Sie Dhian Ho and Chris Duindam, and specialization in baroque violin with Antoinette Lohmann. Quirine is a member of the Combattimento, where she regularly performs as a soloist or concertmaster. She also play this role in Camerata Delft. Together with the accordionist Ellen Zijm formed the De Thuiskomst duo. Apart from the violin, she develops her musical skills as a singer.
