Marion Eckstein – mezzosoprano
The mezzosoprano Marion Eckstein was born in Bernkastel-Kues and studied voice under Julia Hamari and Dunja Vejzovic at the University of Music in Stuttgart. She is a regular guest performer at seminal festivals, such as the Bachfest Leipzig, Konzerthaus Berlin, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Salzburger Festspiele, Suntory Hall Tokyo, Tonhalle Zürich, Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Konzerthaus Wien. She also has guested at the Teatro Real Madrid, Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, the Tiroler Festspiele Erl, Theater Aachen and Staatstheater Wiesbaden. Eckstein sang under the baton of conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Thomas Hengelbrock, René Jacobs, Helmuth Rilling, Yutaka Sado, Jukka-Pekka Saraste and Christoph Spering. She performed with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, European Chamber Orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, WDR Sinfonieorchester, Concerto Köln, Freiburger Barockorchester, Bach-Collegium Stuttgart and the Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble. Since 2019 she is professor of singing at the HMDK in Stuttgart.
