Eckhard Manz studied Protestant church music in Düsseldorf and won the first prize in the organ competition of this University of Music in 1991. He also studied harpsichord in Cologne, and postgraduate studies in choral and orchestral conducting took him to Würzburg. Since 1995 he has been a lecturer at the Church Music Training Centre in Schlüchtern. From 1998 to autumn 2006 Eckhard Manz was cantor of the Kreuzeskirche and artistic director of the “Forum Kreuzeskirche e.V.” in Essen. Regular concerts of new music as organist and conductor with works by Rihm, Widmann, Newskii, Gerhardt, Glaus, Szathmary, Seither and many others. Since 2006 he has been cantor at St. Martin in Kassel and responsible for the construction of the new Rieger organ. In 2017 he was appointed church music director. Recordings for radio stations and with the label “Dabringhaus und Grimm” with old and new music are available. In 2022 he won the OPUS KLASSIK Award for his portrait CD of the Rieger organ in Kassel St. Martin.
