Yannick Debus

He was born in Hamburg, Germany and began his  studies at the Academy of Music in Lübeck in 2011 majoring in both singing and music theory. In 2017 he began his master degree in Basel, Switzerland, studying with Marcel Boone at the Music Academy and with Rosa Dominguez at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Additionally he has been a private student of the the renowned dutch voice teacher Margreet Honig for two years. He gained his first stage experience in an academy production of Mozart‘s Le Nozze di Figaro in the title role of “Figaro“. Since then he has been giving guest perfomances at several opera houses in northern Germany. In 2015 he sang the title role “the poet“ in Domenico Cimarosa’s opera L’impresario in angustie at the Lübeck theater. In summer 2017 he sang the role of the „Vater“ in Humperdinck’s fairy tale opera Hänsel und Gretel at the „Junge Oper Schloss Weikersheim Festival“. He made his first appearance in the role of „Guglielmo“ in Mozarts Così fan tutte in the 2018 „Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg“. His special interest lies in performing as a concert singer for Lied and oratory and in particular in baroque singing. He has sung under the baton of conductors such as Semyon Bychkov, Christoph Eschenbach and Ton Koopman.
