Prof. Andreas Rothkopf
Andreas Rothkopf began playing the piano at the age of 5. He studied piano, organ and conducting in Saarbrücken, Cologne and Paris. He won several 1st prizes for organ and piano (e.g. at the II International Franz Liszt Organ Competition in Budapest, Deutscher Musikwettbewerb, International Organ Competition in Speyer). He pursued a many-faceted career as Professor for Organ, an internationally-renowned concert organist and pianist, but also as a jury member and passionate chamber musician. His large repertoire covers all musical epochs with Bach’s complete organ works, focusing on the German Romantics. CDs of the complete works of Schumann and masterpieces by Reger, Liszt, Brahms and Schubert as well as numerous radio concerts and recordings are testaments of his great devotion.
