Michael Oman

Michael Oman is one of the most prolific and versatile recorder players of his generation. He was educated in Austria, Holland and Italy at the age of 26 at the Bruckner University in Linz.

In 2001, Michael Oman, who was described by the magazine Toccata (2006) as “one of the best recorder players of our time”, founded the Austrian Baroque Company, which presents it all over the world from intimate recorder recitals to baroque ensemble music to recorder concerts in the form of artistic projects. His CD recordings have been awarded international prizes, innovative program concepts and his impulsive, highly virtuoso recorder playing have received the highest praise from the public and press. Lately Michael Oman appears increasingly as a conductor in appearance, so he led i.e. the Californian Baroque Orchestra Musica Angelica, the Chamber Orchestra Camerata Schulz Wien, the Mozart Youth Orchestra Japan and the soloists of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz as an AMANI Ensemble. Together with the recorder players Dorothee Oberlinger (D) and Maurice Steger (CH) he founded the ensemble Eurowinds, as artistic curator Michael Oman supervises the concert series “Abendmusik in the Ursuline Church” and the Eferding Schlosskonzerte. For the first time in 2019, the “Austrian Recorder Academy” (ARA), which was founded by him, will take place, with the aim of providing artistic support to young highly talented recorder players in the form of classes, concerts and lectures.
