She hails from Trnava in western Slovakia. Her musical upbringing began early on thanks to her parents’ influence.After studying at Bratislava Church Conservatory and the Janáček Academy in Brno, she acquired her first stage experience at Brno OperaStudio. Since 2007 she has worked regularly with the celebrated vocal expert Margreet Honig. Nowadays, Lucia Duchoňová is a concert and oratorio singer much in demand far beyond Slovakia, she has appeared at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Handel Festival in Göttingen, the Rheingau Music Festival, the White Nights in St Petersburg, the Prague Spring and La Folle Journée in Tokyo and was invited to orchestras such as the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of City So Paulo,  Collegium 1704, the Kanazawa Ensemble, the Elbipolis Baroque Orchestra, etc. On the opera stage she has tackled roles in the shape of Lisetta in Haydn’s Il mondo della luna, Third Lady in Mozart’s Magic Flute and Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte. her discography includes Handel’s Judas Maccabäus (DHM), Alexander’s Feast (Hänssler Classic), Melancholy (Capriccio/Deutschlandradio Kultur) as well as her first solo CD Canto a Sevilla featuring compositions by Joaquin Turina, which was nominated for a Grammy 2010 in Category The best vocal Interpretation.
