Tomasz Adam Nowak

He graduated with honors from the Warsaw Academy of Music in the organ class of Joachim Grubich in 1987. Collaborating with the excellent pianist and pedagogue Kajetan Mochtak during his studies in Warsaw owes the artist impetus for artistic development. He continued his organ studies in Munich with Franz Lehrndorfer, Amsterdam with Ewald Kooiman and in Paris with Marie-Claire Alain. He also graduated from church music at the College of Music in Essen. He is a laureate of international organ competitions in Budapest, Kamień Pomorski, Lüneburg, Berlin, Wiesbaden, and – as the only Pole in the 50-year history of the competition – winner of the International Organ Improvisation Competition in Haarlem in the Netherlands. He performs in most European countries. He made recordings for Polish and German radio stations, as well as CD recordings. In the years 1994-2018, he performed all organ works of J. S. Bach in Germany, in a cycle of concerts. In 2001, he recorded a set of these works on 12 CDs. He is a professor of organ and improvisation at the Academy of Music in Detmold as well as an organist in the church of St. Lambert in Münster (Westfalia). He conducts international courses in the field of organ interpretation and improvisation. As a soloist he collaborates with many symphony orchestras in Europe.
