Ireneusz Wyrwa

Ireneusz Wyrwa graduated with distinction from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, where he studied organ under Julian Gembalski. He participated in several organ master classes, taught by Marie-Claire Alain, Guy Bovet, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Martin Haselböck, André Isoir, Ton Koopman, Jon Laukvik, Ludger Lohmann, Herbert Wulf, Jean-Claude Zehnder and Wolfgang Zerer, among others. Ireneusz Wyrwa is a prize winner of two nation-wide organ competitions: in Wrocław (first prize, 1994) and in Rumia (second prize, 1996). In 2000, he was awarded a second prize in the Feliks Nowowiejski International Organ Competition in Poznań. As a soloist and chamber music player, he concertizes in Poland and abroad, and performs with distinguished symphonic orchestras. His artistic output includes also CD recordings and archival recordings for the Polish Radio and Television. In 1999-2013 he taught and did research at the Institute for Musicology of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. Since 2013 he has been professor at the Frederic Chopin Music University in Warsaw. He acts as a jury member at organ competitions, is invited to give talks and lectures, publishes scholarly papers and popular articles, leads seminars and interpretation courses. He is also active as music coordinator and as expert on organ building, both historical and modern.
